This summer, the technologies of power will fall into the hands of game designers and gamers.

In collaboration with Artitude, we’re offering a series of free street games workshops and events at different locations in Berlin – at Alexanderplatz, the Oberbaum Bridge and Mariannenplatz. During the workshops, we’ll be equipped with gadgets and game mechanics and look forward to developing street games themed around surveillance, camouflage and border crossing. Following each workshop, these brand new games can be played during a public event. Then we move on to the next place to adapt, iterate, tune.

After the Panel (14:30-16:15), we’re inviting everyone to come play our new game Space Station Escape, in which an alien virus spreads inside the space station underneath Alexanderplatz! Recover the escape sequence and board the rescue capsule before the station self-destructs…

Meeting point for the game is 16:45 at the Weltzeituhr on Alexanderplatz. Bring a pen or a pencil. You don’t have to be attending the conference to join the game. If the weather is good, we’ll also be playing some more rounds of Tower Defense around the TV Tower afterwards. Yay!

An Afternoon of Easter Eggs, Espionage & Playtesting at Berlin Alexanderplatz

On Easter Sunday, we’re setting up our Field Office at Alexanderplatz for the first time and invite you to spend a relaxed afternoon of playtesting with us at .HBC, as part of Sunday Extraordinaire.

Together, we’ll defend the TV Tower, descend into the underground, discover smuggling routes and lush pastures, form obstacles and and be part of the skyline.

We’ve got well tested and brand new Street Games for 2-50 people with us, and will keep the Field Office open from 2-7 pm. Come by any time or at 3 pm or 6 pm for games that are playable in large groups.

If you need a break between two games you can browse the flea market or hang out at the café. Looking forward to seeing you!

Guided by a controller’s calm voice, four agents descend, one by one, into the depths of the museum. Will the footage they assemble by passing a video camera from hand to hand help them make sense of their operation?

We’re thrilled to be part of this fabulous event on March 26. It’s a Hide & Seek Sandpit and a Victoria & Albert Museum Friday Late at the same time! Sebastian is spending the week in London creating Silent Relay, an adaption of our Audio Adventure Stille Post, tailor made for the crazy and wonderful architecture of the V&A.

On 5/12/2009, we’ll be running a Street Games Workshop at Kottbusser Tor, Berlin.

The wonderful West Germany (Skalitzer Str. 133) will serve as our base of operations. From there, we’ll discuss, prototype, and – most importantly – play some great Street Games.

Get ready to smuggle, conspire, place obstacles, evade monsters, explore, focus and enjoy!

There’s a very limited number of places left, so if you’re interested in joining – let us know and tell us why.

After giving an introduction into development strategies for Street Games, Josa and Sebastian will try to turn Kassel’s railhead station on its head – with a little help from participants and waiting travellers. Who will have the guts to walk to the end of the platform without a ticket?
